Popup Chinese Movies Show (popupchinese.com)

Quick note to announce a new show, the Popup Chinese movie show:

http://popupchinese.com/lessons/chinese-movies

The idea is to have a mixed Chinese/English discussion show somewhere around the intermediate level. We've automatically subscribed anyone who was subscribed to our other intermediate stuff. If this isn't you and you'd like to check it out, the direct URL for the first episode is:

http://popupchinese.com/lessons/chinese-movies/let-the-bullets-fly

Where is this going? I think it depends on the feedback we get from you guys. One of our main goals - beyond having an excuse to chat about interesting stuff - is to help bridge the intermediate/advanced gap with discussions that have a healthy dose of Chinese, but enough English to provide structure and contextual clues for less advanced listeners. I don't think there is anything out there like this now, so let us know what you think.

Love the new show, David! I subscribed to Popup Chinese because I need more listening practice at this level. It's a good fit for me: Elementary lessons are too easy and native material is still too challenging. Intermediate lessons are good, but the dialogues are short. This kind of free-form conversation is great.

As far as the topics go, I trust you guys to keep it interesting. Most Chinese learning materials are either 1) boring/pedestrian/unimaginative, or 2) too easy. You guys are neither :-)

Thumbs up on the new content. Really like it. It's a nice addition and fills a void between the short stories, intermediate and advanced lessons. Great job and keep em' coming! :-)

Also really like hearing Brendan's input. His mastery of the language is incredibly impressive and really drives home the fact that 我还得更上一层楼!
